I'm so excited to be joining Freeport Area Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year! I was born and raised in Ford City, PA, and I'm happy to have landed in Freeport. I've taught in both Pennsylvania and Maryland, spending the past two years teaching just outside of Washington D.C. Previously, I taught 8th grade in Eastern, PA. In Maryland, I spent two years teaching 6th grade English. It was here that I also spent my summers welcoming incoming 6th graders to the building and showing them all the tools for success as they made the transition from elementary to middle school. This will be my fourth year teaching at the middle school level, and I look forward to the adventure that awaits me at Freeport!
It is my personal philosophy that growth happens when we are willing to learn and broaden our horizons. In the classroom, I strive to help my students navigate academics and real-world issues, blending the two to make learning relevant, valuable, and engaging. I believe in blended and personalized learning where students are at the heart of it all. Because so much of life is about perspective, I hope to teach my students the value of empathy, determination, and positivity.
