Freeport Area Middle School Families,

On behalf of the Freeport Area Middle School faculty and staff, welcome to Freeport Area Middle School’s webpage! I am excited to return as FAMS Principal for my second year.

During my time as Interim Principal, I used my 12 years of experience as a learning support/math teacher to help foster a learning environment where all students can succeed.  FAMS will continue to set high expectations for students, teachers, and staff in all areas to improve student achievement.  In order to do this, we will collaborate with all stakeholders so that we, as a district, can reach these high expectations. We will continue to implement best practices to have your child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Freeport Area Middle School is committed to making safety as our top priority for your child. Not only are we looking to improve the methods of keeping students and staff safe, but we are also in frequent communication with local authorities, the Butler County Health Department, and the Center for Disease and Control to implement the most up-to-date recommendations.

The Middle School staff will continue to develop a holistic approach to improve student achievement. With that being said, the teachers and staff will continue to use research based instructional strategies to improve student achievement.  For the 3rd consecutive year, we will be implementing a social-emotional curriculum that generates a positive learning environment in the school system. Teachers and staff will continue to have open communication with families on how students are progressing in and out of the classroom.  The middle school staff will continue to collect and analyze data through assessments and observations administered in the classroom.

I highly encourage your children to be connected to events that occur outside of our classrooms.  Freeport Area Middle School will continue to provide a wide variety of sports, clubs, and extra-curricular activities so students can make these connections with their fellow classmates, coaches, and members of the community.

Lastly, Freeport Area Middle School acknowledges the challenges that recent health events have put on families, students, and the entire learning community. FAMS faculty and staff are continually enhancing skills to help deliver in classroom instruction, as well as delivering effective instruction remotely. Teachers are continually developing web based platforms that provide families with resources to help foster learning on the home front.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions about Freeport Area Middle School. I am looking forward to being a part of your child’s educational experiences!
