Course Description:

This one-semester course features a “hands on” introduction to some of the basic areas of art.  Students will have the opportunity to experiment and explore a variety of art media, as well as have an introduction to basic art history concepts.  Students will focus on topics such as composition and design, color theory, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, realistic and abstract works, proportion and balance, art appreciation, digital art (photography & Photoshop) and art careers.  Lessons are designed to be aligned with the state standards in art, with an emphasis on the four methods of Discipline-Based Art Education (Art Production, Criticism, Aesthetics & Art History).
