Reading Curriculum

 ·Journeys(Houghton Mifflin Harcourt)

·Kindergarten skill review for the first two weeks.

·Weekly Spelling Lists will begin with unit one and will be sent home weekly.

·Leveled Readers will be used with each story. They will stay at school throughout the week so we can read them daily in Guided Reading Groups.

·Four take home books will accompany each story.  These are paper books that should be read at home each night. Please return them.

·Poetry/Fluency Folder: Each month students will be given a poem, fluency passages, and Dolch Sight Words which will be practiced daily in school. These will be kept in a folder in the student’s desk.

Daily practice will help in the building of fluent first grade readers
