Schoology

What is it?

Schoology is an educational website similar to Facebook that will be utilized for this class. Many other teachers will use this site as well and you can see all your courses that utilize the site when you login.  You can submit assignments, check for new information, ask questions, access textbook materials that I have scanned, check the class calendar, etc. It is your responsibility to logon to Schoology every day (M-F).  The materials you need to complete assignments will be posted on the schedule for the week. I can see when the last time you accessed to course materials so please do not tell me you logged on when you didn’t.

Absence:

 If you miss school, you can find what you missed in class on Schoology.  If you do not check because you are not feeling well make sure to check in class when you return.  Please do not ask me or a friend what you missed.  Each class is different. If you need a pass to go to the library to login to Schoology during a study hall or before school please ask for  one.

Internet access:

If you do not have reliable Internet access outside of school you must notify me immediately at the bottom of this page.  I will make accommodations for you to get to the library, use the Ipads in class, etc. so you can get material as needed.

Parents:

Your parent/guardian will be given an access code for Schoology.  They will be able to see what materials are posted on the site as well.  They will not see other students’ material.

Logging in:

You will use the same username/password you did last year.  If you have not used Schoology in the past, you will receive a login and temporary password.  Make sure to record this so you don’t forget. You will then need to join the class.  Access codes will be given to you in class. Please write it here ________________________.

Navigating the site:

When you login, choose Spanish from the “Courses” tab on the top.  On the left side of the page you will see “Materials”.  In this section you will find folders marked with what is inside.  Just click on what you need.  You can print from the site if desired.   Along the right side you will see a calendar and upcoming events.  If there is an assignment that needs to be submitted on Schoology, this is where you will do it.

App:

If you have a smart phone or tablet there is a free Schoology app.  The layout may be different, but you may want to install it if you can.

Assignments:

For the majority of assignments you will be notified in class and have at least one evening to complete.  Typically you will have 2 evenings.  There will be times when I post an unannounced assignment to make sure you are checking the site daily.  These unannounced, graded assignments will not be posted later than 3:00 pm.

I understand that I am responsible for checking Schoology daily.  I know that if I do not complete assignments I will not receive additional time to complete them unless I had an excused absence.  If I do not have Internet access outside of school I am notifying Ms. Gray below so I can have access to technology at school or a paper copy.
