In second grade, students continue to demonstrate an understanding of visual representation.  They recognize and understand simple note values and time signatures.  They are introduced to the concept of the scale and explore pentatonic melodies, ostinatos, and form.  Students continue to identify and categorize qualities of sound, form, and pitch matching.
