2023-2024 Course Objectives

The overall goal of the 7th grade reading/writing program is designed to expand the student's reading and writing skills through the use of various forms of literature and follow up activities.  Various novels and short stories are used to teach the wide variety of reading skills necessary to be successful.  These skills are taught within the context of the stories read by the students.  Supplemental activities are utilized to reinforce these skills.  


The writing program is an integrated part of the reading program.  The various writing activities relate, either directly or indirectly, to the stories read.  The goal of the writing program is to improve the student's ability to understand the various writing prompts and to respond to them in an appropriate manner.
