In 4th grade math, computational proficiency is necessary for success. All incoming students are expected to have mastered all addition and subtraction facts to 20 as well as multiplication facts to 9. If your student is still struggling, extra practice with their facts is highly recommended for home. This year, number sense, problem-solving, estimation, and writing to explain math procedures are all stressed. Two big computational procedures will be introduced this year, long division and multiplying two-digit numbers.
Our math program is My Math which is aligned to the Common Core Standards. The students write directly in their textbook and are able to access the textbook online. Each student will have an individual login which you can see below. If students cannot use their login for any reason, there is a universal login for all students in the district provided below. The online portion of the program provides wonderful tools and games for each chapter of which I will demonstrate in class, and your child can then access from home.
