Buffalo Township is 24.2 square miles and located in southeastern Butler County. It is home to 62% of the school district's residents.

According to the U.S. census of 2010, there were 7,307 residents, 2,827 households, and 2,153 families residing in the township. The population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 19, 12.6% from 20-34, 22.6% from 34-49, 23.9% from 50 to 64, and 15.5% over the age of 65. The median age was 43.8 years.

According to the 2000 census, the median income for a household in the township was $45,074, and the median income for a family was $51,886. Per capita income for the township was $20,798.
