Dear Freeport Families:

As was published and communicated last week, the FASD Phased Reopening Plan calls for our District to continue our full move into Phase II starting on September 28th.

Data from the weeks ending both last week and this week are demonstrating that, according to the 'Determining Instructional Models' framework established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, both of our Counties are likely to remain in the 'Moderate' range.  The recommended instructional models in this range are either Blended/Hybrid (our A/B) or Full Remote.

Therefore, as noted in the plan, on Monday, September 28th, we will plan to welcome back the remaining grade levels (Grades 3-5, 7, 10, and 11) into the blended or A/B schedule.  This means that grades K-12 will be engaging in the blended or A/B schedule the week of September 28th.

As a reminder, for this coming Monday, September 21st, only grades K-2, 6 and 8, and 9 and 12 are to physically report on their assigned A or B days.

Thank you to all of our families for assisting and getting both our full remote and blended/hybrid models up and running.  Please remember: it was important that we started the year getting acclimated to these models should we ever be forced to use it again for any length of time.

Please stay tuned for more specific communications from your individual buildings in the next week.

September 11, 2020

As has been published and part of our intent all along, the FASD Phased Reopening Plan now calls for us to take our next steps.  http://www.freeport.k12.pa.us/News/374#sthash.egc0tcWC.dpbs

Data from the weeks ending both last week and this week are demonstrating that, according to the 'Determining Instructional Models' framework established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, both of our Counties have been and continue to be in the 'Moderate' range.  The recommended instructional models in this range are either Blended (our A/B) or Full Remote (the stage we are in right now).

Therefore, as noted in the plan, on Monday, September 21st we will plan to welcome back the following grade levels.  Please note that this is somewhat accelerated from the most conservative approach/possibilities described in our plan; however, given that we are bringing students back in this phased manner in A/B, we all recognize how important it is that our kids be in school.

Monday, September 21st

Elementary

Grades K - 1 - 2

Middle School

Grades 6 and 8

High School

Grades 9 and 12

Barring significant increases in the data next week, the intent would then be to announce the return of the remaining grade levels on Monday, September 28th.

Thank you to all of our families for assisting and getting our full remote instruction model up and running.  Please remember: it was important that we started the year getting acclimated to this model should we ever be forced to use it again for any length of time.

Please stay tuned for more specific communications from your individual buildings in the next week, including transportation schedules and A/B reminders.

As we prepare to begin the school year and to bring back students a short time after, please be reminded that the District has been enforcing the Department of Health Travel Advisory, requiring 14-day quarantines after travel from states identified as hot spots.  Please see page 8 of the FASD Health and Safety Plan and the DOH Travel Advisory.  Students may not be on campus for any reason until the 14 days have expired from such travel.
