The Freeport Area School District’s goal is to establish a secure school climate, conducive to teaching and student learning that is free from threat, harassment, and any type of bullying behavior.  The District expects all students and employees to act respectfully towards one another at all times.  Students have the opportunity to visit the school counselor or principal and anonymously report items that may affect the safety and welfare of others or the building.

Bullying is defined as an intentional electronic, written, verbal, or physical act, or a series of acts that are directed at another student or students and occurs in or related to the school settings, is severe, persistent, or pervasive and interferes with a student’s education or disrupts the orderly operation of the school.  Bullying includes, but is not limited to physical, verbal, psychological or relational, or cyber-bullying.  The Freeport Area School District is implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program at the elementary and junior high levels.  Any bullying incident as defined within the School District Policy Manual will be addressed with specific measures outlined by elementary, middle, and secondary level action plans.

Policy No. 249 Bullying/Cyberbullying
